Singer and songwriter Joseph Williams, the son of famous film composer John Williams, was born September 1, 1960 in Santa Monica, California. He released his self-titled debut album in 1982, and he gigged steadily as a studio singer, occasionally performing on songs that appeared in movies scored by his father. Eventually, he lent his vocals to such movie standards as The Lion Kingâs âCan You Fell the Love Tonightâ. He made his biggest impression in the late 1980s when he took over the lead vocal duties in the classic rock band Toto, performing on their albums Fahrenheit and The Seventh One. He left Toto and issued the solo albums I Am Alive in 1996 and 3 in 1997. He followed in his fatherâs formidable footsteps and composed for a smattering of television programs at the beginning of the 21st century. After the covers album Two of Us in 2006 and one more collection of new material, 2008âs This Fall, Joseph Williams rejoined Toto in 2010 and stayed with the band for nearly a decade.
