Biography

Talk Normal, an American alternative/indie rock duo from Brooklyn, New York, consists of Sarah Register and Andrya Ambro. The pair met while attending NYU and began their musical journey as sound engineers before forming Talk Normal. Their first release was a four-song cassette EP in 2007, followed by Secret Cog in 2008. In 2009, they released their debut full-length album, Sugarland, on Rare Book Room Records. The duo collaborated with Lower Dens and Christy & Emily on split releases in 2010 and 2011, respectively. In 2012, Talk Normal released Sunshine under Joyful Noise Recordings. Pitchfork Media gave Sugarland a rating of 7.8, praising their "thick noise" and "rhythmic tension," and ranked Sunshine at 7.7, noting the duo's ability to transform simple sounds into something larger.
