Biography
Formed in 2016 in London, England, Szun Waves is an experimental and spiritual jazz trio comprised of electronic producer Luke Abbott, drummer Laurence Pike (PVT), and saxophonist Jack Wyllie (Portico Quartet). The bandâs recordings are chiefly improvisational and allow the musicians to incorporate all of their influence including ambient, psychedelic, jazz, and electronica. Szun Waves released At Sacred Walls, their debut album, in 2016. Two years later, they released their sophomore album, New Hymn to Freedom (2018). Szun Waves returned in August 2022 with the album Earth Patterns, which was produced by the trio. The album features the singles âNew Universeâ and âExploding Upwards,â both of which were available digitally before the release of the album.
