SykeânâSugarstarr, the German electronic duo consisting of Serhat Sakin (DJ name SESA) and Matthias Weber (DJ name Sugarstarr), was formed in Hamburg in April 1998. The pair began producing house music together, drawing early influences from funk, disco and percussive elements. Their first commercial release came in 2002 with the single "Release Your Mind" on Delicious Garden Records, which was later licensed to Swing City (UK) and other international labels. In 2003 the duo achieved a breakthrough with "Ticket 2 Ride", a track that reached the top of German dance charts and was subsequently licensed to Boss Records (UK) and other territories. Throughout the 2000s they released a series of albums and EPs, including Release Your Mind (2002), Are You (Watching Me Watching You) (2006), No Love Lost (2008), and Like That Sound (2011), collaborating with artists such as Alexandra Prince, Jay Sebag, and Cosmo Klein. The group toured worldwide, performing at festivals, clubs, and on radio shows such as Do The Hip!. In 2013 the duo ceased using the SykeânâSugarstarr name, focusing instead on their solo projects SESA and Sugarstarr. Their catalog remains influential within the house and electronic music scenes.
