Swingin' Fireballs, a jazz and swing band from Bremen, Germany, was founded in 1999 by pianist Joachim Refardt and saxophonist Volker Bruder. Known for their style inspired by American entertainment of the 1950s and 1960s, with arrangements by Refardt, they released their debut album Live in Bremen in 2001. In 2004, Swingin' Fireballs performed with the Count Basie Orchestra and subsequently released three albums: In the Mood for Swing!, Showtime, and a collaboration with Werder Bremen titled "Papa Loves Werder" on the double-CD Lebenslang Grün-Weià all in the same year. In 2009, they contributed seven tracks to the film soundtrack for Dinosaurier â Gegen uns seht ihr alt aus!. The band's discography also includes notable releases such as In the Mood For Dancing! and Swing Trek, both in 2008. Saxophonist Matthias Schinkopf was awarded Best Instrumental Soloist of the Year by the German Pop Foundation in 2017.
