Biography

Sex Gang Children, a rock music group from Brixton, London, formed in early 1982. The original lineup consisted of Andi Sex Gang on vocals and guitar, Dave Roberts on bass, Terry McLeay on guitar, and Rob Stroud on drums. Their first release was the cassette-only live album Naked in 1982, followed by their debut vinyl EP Beasts. In 1983, they released their only studio album from this period, Song and Legend, which topped the UK Indie Chart and featured the single "Sebastiane". The band underwent several lineup changes, including the departure of Stroud and Roberts. After McLeay's exit in 1984, the group was renamed Andi Sex Gang & the Quick Gas Gang for the album Blind! and subsequent tour. They disbanded shortly after. In 1991, renewed interest led to a reformation with Roberts rejoining, resulting in the album Medea in 1993. The band continued to release albums and perform live, including notable works such as Viva Vigilante! (2013) and Oligarch (2021).
