American rock band Stillwater, from Warner Robins, Georgia, was formed in 1973. The group initially consisted of Mike Causey on guitar, Ken Kelly on guitar, Bobby Golden on guitar and vocals, Jimmy Hall on percussion and vocals, Sebie Lacey on drums and vocals, Al Scarborough on bass, Bob Spearman on keyboards, and Rob Roy Walker on guitar. Stillwater's breakthrough came with their self-titled debut album Stillwater, released in 1977 on Capricorn Records. The album featured the single "Mind Bender", which peaked at number 46 on the Billboard Hot 100 in February 1978, marking a significant milestone for the band. Their second album, I Reserve the Right!, was released in 1978 and included the title track as a single. Drummer David Heck joined Stillwater in 1981, replacing Sebie Lacey, and the band continued until 1984. During their initial run, Stillwater became known for their Southern rock sound, blending elements of blues and country music with hard rock. After a hiatus, they reunited from 1996 to 1998 and released their third album Runnin' Free in 1998. Notable songs include "Mind Bender" and "I Reserve the Right", which showcased the band's energetic performances and distinctive style. The band's music was well-received, particularly within the Southern rock community, and they gained a dedicated following during their active years. Bob Spearman passed away in 2002.
