Biography

Stevie Wishart, born in April 1969 in the United Kingdom, is a singer and composer known for her work with ancient music. She studied composition and electronic music at the University of York under Trevor Wishart and Richard Orten, followed by studies in improvised and aleatoric music with John Cage and David Tudor. Her career began with the release of Bella Domna - The Medieval Woman: Lover, Poet, Patroness & Saint in 1987. Subsequent albums include Wish (1993), and The Compass, Log, And Lead (2006). Wishart has collaborated with notable figures such as Michèle Noiret and Wayne McGregor, performing at venues like the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London. Her compositions often incorporate themes of environmental conservation, reflecting her membership in art/science network Fo.am and the Ecotones Network.
