Steve Young was born on Julyâ¯12,â¯1942, in Newnan, Georgia. He grew up traveling through Texas and Alabama, writing and playing songs that blended folk, blues, country, and gospel. He collaborated with Vanâ¯Dykeâ¯Parks and joined the psychedelic country band Stoneâ¯Country in the 1960s. His breakthrough came with the song "Sevenâ¯Bridgesâ¯Road", which was popularized by the Eagles on their 1980 live album. The song was also covered by notable artists like Joan Baez, Dolly Parton, and Rita Coolidge. He issued Solo/Live in 1991 and Switchbladesâ¯Ofâ¯Love in 1993. Young charted with "It'sâ¯Notâ¯Supposedâ¯toâ¯Beâ¯Thatâ¯Way," which reached numberâ¯84 on Hotâ¯Countryâ¯Songs in 1984. In 1989, he toured with Timâ¯Otto and later performed internationally, including a 1993 show in the Netherlands. Young died on Marchâ¯17,â¯2016, in Nashville, Tennessee.
