Michael Bisio, born March 4, 1955 in Troy, New York, is an American jazz bassist, bandleader, and composer. He began his musical education as a violinist under David Cobb at the State University of New York Albany (SUNYA), later shifting to bass and graduating from the University of Washington in 1979. Bisio's early career included collaborations with Barbara Donald and Jack Walrath. He founded Earshot Jazz in Seattle and worked extensively with Joe McPhee, releasing albums like Finger Wigglers in 1997 and Zebulon in 1999. Subsequent albums include Undulations (2000), Requiem for a New York Slice (2019), and The Art Spirit (2021). He has also collaborated with artists such as Andrew Hill, Sonny Simmons, and John Tchicai.
