Biography

Starbuck, a pop-rock group from Atlanta, Georgia, were formed in 1974 by keyboardist/vocalist/producer Bruce Blackman and marimba player Bo Wagner. The band included guitarist Johnny Walker, who had previously been part of the Mississippi-based 'sunshine pop' group Eternity's Children, known for their hit "Mrs. Bluebird" on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1968. Starbuck’s breakthrough came with their debut single "Moonlight Feels Right", which reached number three on the Billboard Hot 100 singles charts in 1976. The band released several other charting songs, including "Everybody Be Dancin'" (number 38), and were known for their energetic live performances. Throughout their career from 1974 to 1980, Starbuck appeared on various television shows, but despite their US success, they enjoyed only limited airplay in the UK. The group disbanded in 1980, but later reunited briefly as Korona in early 1982, scoring a hit with "Let Me Be" (number 43). They came together again in 2016, with the album Starbuck 2022 released in 2022 by Bruce Blackman. Bo Wagner died on 20 June 2017.
