Biography

Spotlight Kid is a British neo-psychedelic and shoegazing ensemble formed in 2006 in Nottingham. The group was founded by Chris Davis, who composed the tracks for the debut studio album, Departure, released in 2006 by Club AC30. Vocalist Katty Heath joined the ensemble following her tenure with the electronic group Bent. The band released the EP Crystal Dreams in 2009 and the recording “April/All Is Real” in 2010. Its second studio album, Disaster Tourist, appeared in 2011 and featured an ethereal vocal performance by Heath. The ensemble toured the United Kingdom and performed at the Glastonbury Festival. In 2014, the group released the studio recording Ten Thousand Hours through Saint Marie Records. The lineup included Karl Skivington, Chris Moore, Matt Holt, and Rob McCleary. The band's name was inspired by the 1972 Captain Beefheart album The Spotlight Kid.
