Beth Jeans Houghton, also known as Du Blonde (born 3 January 1990 in Newcastle upon Tyne, England), is a multifaceted artist and musician whose work spans music, animation, video direction, and visual arts. Initially gaining attention under their birth name, they released their debut album, Yours Truly, Cellophane Nose, in 2012 with Mute Records, reaching number 83 on the UK Albums Chart. Transitioning to the moniker Du Blonde in 2014, they released Welcome Back To Milk (2015), followed by the self-produced Lung Bread for Daddy (2019), which explored personal themes like mental health and relationships. Their third album, Homecoming (2021), featured collaborations with artists like Shirley Manson and Ezra Furman, and their latest release, Sniff More Gritty (2024), continues to expand their discography. Beyond music, Houghton is known for directing and animating music videos for artists such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ezra Furman, and LUMP, while their visual art encompasses photography, sculpture, and embroidery. A long-time advocate for mental health awareness, Houghton blends humor with introspection in projects like their comic series Butt Hurt, inspired by their experiences with anxiety.
