Biography

South Border is a Filipino pop and R&B ensemble formed in 1993 in Davao City. The group performed as a session band for the song “The Way of the Plann” before releasing its self-titled debut studio album in 1996. The recording featured the singles “May pag-ibig pa kaya” and “Kahit kailan”. The latter received the 1996 Song of the Year award from several radio stations and the 10th Awit Award for Song of the Year. The debut album reached triple platinum status and received the Awit Award for Album of the Year. Lead vocalist Brix Ferraris was replaced by Luke Mejares in 1998. Subsequent recordings included the studio albums Bump (1998), The Way We Do (2001), and Episode III (2004). These featured the songs “Sa 'yo”, “Habang atin ang gabi”, “The show”, and “Brown hand smash”. In 2020, the ensemble appeared on The Today Show. The band performed at political rallies in 2022.
