Biography

Francisco Javier Bautista Jr., known professionally as Frankie J, was born on December 7, 1975, in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico. Raised in San Diego, California, he began his music career under the stage name Frankie Boy in the late 1990s, initially gaining experience with Canadian independent record label Ventura International Records and Hola Recordings. In 1999, Bautista joined the musical group Kumbia Kings, performing under the name Cisko. His solo debut came in 2003 with the EP Don't Wanna Try, followed by his self-titled Spanish-language album Frankie J. The lead single "Don't Wanna Try" peaked at number 19 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart, and he was featured on rapper Baby Bash's Top 10 hit "Suga Suga". Frankie J's second English-language album, The One, released in March 2005, included the hit single "Obsession (No Es Amor)" featuring Baby Bash. The album was certified platinum by the RIAA for shipping over a million copies. His subsequent albums include Priceless (2006) and Courage (2011). In 2013, Frankie J received a Grammy Award nomination for his album Faith, Hope y Amor under the category of Best Latin Pop Album. He returned with another three albums: Eleven (2017), Canciones Que Recuerdo (2020) and Back2us (2022)
