Biography

Son de Ríos is a Peruvian cumbia band formed in Piura in 2015 and built around a large family front line: vocalists Beto Ríos, Miller Ríos, Waldir Ríos, Daniel Ríos, Milagros Ríos and Rafael Calle, with Marvin Ríos serving as musical director and producer. They released their debut album Todo Empezo on 27 September 2016, a 12-track set that introduced their northern sanjuanera sound through songs such as “Pal Carajo el Amor,” “Nada de Ti,” “Cómo Te Olvido” and “Llévate Todo.” In 2017, they followed with Duele Amarte, which featured “Mi Dulce Bombom,” “Te Olvidare,” “Hondo Dolor” and “La Pagarás,” the latter later reissued in 2019 as the single “La Pagarás” featuring Tommy Portugal. Their third studio album Imposible Olvidarte arrived on 27 September 2019 with 12 tracks including “Por Siempre Mi Angel,” “Baila Mi Sanjuanito” and, above all, “No Me Vuelvo a Enamorar,” which became their best-known song through radio play and video platforms; that period also brought the live EP Domingos de Fiesta (En Vivo) and the 2020 collaboration single “Falsas Promesas” with Sonido 2000. In the early 2020s, they added singles such as “La Carta,” “Cantinero,” “Nada de Ti” and “Nunca Podrán,” reinforcing their presence on streaming services and TV programs dedicated to cumbia. In 2025, Son de Ríos released the six-track album Entre Lágrimas y Recuerdos on 27 June, collecting “Cómo Te Olvido,” “Piel de Ángel,” “Te Olvidare,” “Una Copa Más,” “Mix Recuerdos” and “Mis Lágrimas en el Licor,” alongside the single “Vuelve Palomita” and the live project Recuerdos del Alma (En Vivo), and remained active as a representative of a new generation of Piura sanjuanera.
