Born in Windsor, Ontario, on January 17, 1968, Sofia Shinas is a Canadian pop singer and actress who made a name for herself in the early 1990s with her single "The Message", released in 1992. This dance-pop track, influenced by house and freestyle, reached number 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the USA. It appears on her only studio album, Sofia Shinas, released in 1992 by Atlantic Records. The album also includes the singles "One Last Kiss" and "State of Mind". She later turned to a career as an actress and director.
