Swiss electronic music group Shakedown, formed in 1999, consisted of brothers Stephan Mandrax and Sebastien Kohler. Both had extensive backgrounds in music production and DJing before forming Shakedown. Stephan Mandrax, known as Stephan 'Mandrax' Kohler, began his career in the mid-1980s, making his DJ debut at Dolce Vita in Lausanne and later promoting illegal parties across Switzerland and Europe. Sebastien Kohler studied sound engineering in London from 1993 to 1996 before returning to Switzerland to start Cornflex label. In 2002, Shakedown gained international recognition with their hit single "At Night", which peaked at number 6 on the UK Singles Chart and was featured on BBC Television's Top of the Pops. The track was included in their debut album You Think You Know, released by Sony BMG. Following this success, they released several singles including "Drowsy with Hope" (2003) and "Love Game" (2004). In 2006, they released the album Spellbound. Various remixes of "At Night" followed by different artists, including Purple Disco Machine in 2018. In 2023, Shakedown collaborated with Bootsy Collins on "Funky and You Know It". Shakedown also produced remixes for various artists such as Sly & Robbie, Röyksopp, and Mousse T. Their music was featured in films like The Transporter 2 by Louis Leterrier and Les Corps Impatients by Xavier Gianolli.
