Biography
Snowy White was born on March 3, 1948, in Barnstaple, Devon, England. The British guitarist, singer, and songwriter is considered one of the most influential blues-rock musicians of his generation and is known for his melodic, understated guitar style. In the 1970s, Snowy White worked as a studio musician and accompanied Pink Floyd on tour before joining Thin Lizzy in 1980. After leaving the band in 1982, he focused on his solo career and founded Snowy White and The White Flames as a blues-rock project in 1996. In addition to Snowy White, the lineup includes Richard Bailey on drums, Walter Latupeirissa on bass, and Juan van Emmerloot on drums. Their music spans blues rock, blues, and classic rock. The album No Faith Required (1996) marked the beginning of his long-standing collaboration with the White Flames. This was followed by Little Wing (1998), Keep Out: We Are Toxic (1999), Restless (2002), The Way It Is (2005), Liveflames (2007), and Realistic (2011). Other notable releases include Released (2016), Reunited (2017), The Situation (2019), Something On Me (2020), and Unfinished Business (2024). In June 2026, another album, The Finishing Touch, is released. Snowy White achieved his greatest chart success even before the White Flames era with the album White Flames (1983), which reached No. 21 in the UK. The single âBird of Paradiseâ from that album climbed to No. 6 on the UK singles chart in 1984. Other well-known tracks from his career include âMidnight Bluesâ, âLittle Wingâ, and âBlues Is the Roadâ. Snowy White is recognized above all for his influence on European blues rock and his collaborations with prominent rock musicians such as David Gilmour, Peter Green, Roger Waters, and Phil Lynott.
