Slimane Azem, born Sliman Æezem on September 19, 1918, in Agouni Gueghrane, Algeria, was a singer and poet known for his contributions to Chaabi and Kabyle music. His musical career started in Paris after World War II, where he managed a café and performed his compositions. He recorded his first album with the song "A Moh A Moh". In 1955, during the Algerian War, Azem released "EffeÉ£ ay ajrad tamurt iw", which was banned by French authorities for its political content. He passed away on January 28, 1983. Other notable releases include the album Awine yelane dhel fahem (1970) and the song "Algérie mon beau pays".
