Biography

Skipinnish, a traditional music band from from the Gàidhealtachd (Scottish Highlands and Islands), was formed in 1999 by Angus MacPhail and Andrew Stevenson. The duo launched their career with the self‑released debut Skipinnish (2001), followed by Sgurr Mor to Skerryvore (2003) and Deoch 'N' Dorus (2005), establishing a reputation for energetic live performances and traditional arrangements. Subsequent albums The Sound of the Summer (2007), Live From The Ceilidh House (2009), Atlantic Roar (2013), Western Ocean (2014), The Seventh Wave (2017), and Steer by the Stars (2019) expanded their catalogue, while singles such as "Walking on the Waves" (2014) and "Summer Call" (2022) received regional radio play. The group operated its own label, Skipinnish Records, supporting acts like Skerryvore and Rachel Walker, and toured extensively across the UK, contributing to the revival of Gaelic folk music.
