Biography
Shy, Low is an American post-rock band formed in January 2011 in Richmond, Virginia. The group emerged from the ashes of the metal-inspired outfit Vessel and quickly began writing and recording their debut album. In May 2011, they recorded a six-song demo with Allen Bergendahl at Viking Recording, which led to their first tour. Their self-titled debut album Shy, Low was released on January 20, 2012, through Fluttery Records. The band subsequently signed with Spartan Records in 2013, releasing the EP Binary Opposition and their second album Hiraeth in 2013 and 2015 respectively. In 2017, they released the EP Burning Day, marking a shift towards post-metal. Shy, Low's next full-length album, Snake Behind the Sun, was released on October 8, 2021, through Pelagic Records, following a European tour in 2019 and extensive pre-production work with producer Mike Watts. The band's third EP, Babylonica, was released on May 26, 2023.
