Biography

Shirley Théroux is a Quebec singer and television host born on November 29, 1945 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. She began her career in show business at an early age. She won a number of amateur competitions in Quebec cabarets in the 1960s, and in 1963 won the final of Yoland Guérard's Découvertes on Quebec television. This victory led to her first professional engagement. In 1965, her career was launched with the 45 rpm release of the song " Un homme ", which became a radio hit. That same year, she topped the Quebec radio charts with the song " Je serai toujours à toi". As the years went by, her hits on record kept piling up, including " Une histoire d'amour " in 1971 and a cover of a Michel Fugain song, " Fais comme l'oiseau ", in 1973. From 1972 to 1977, she hosted the television show Les Tannants with Pierre Marcotte and Joël Denis. During Les Tannants, she performs humorous sketches in duet with Joël Denis, which they call Toto et Totoune. In 2013, she released a tribute album to Jacques Brel entitled Entre Brel et moi.
