Miloslav Ladislav "Ladi" Geisler, born on November 27, 1927, in Prague, was a German jazz guitarist. During World War II, he developed an electric guitar and taught himself to play while in a Danish prisoner-of-war camp. Post-war, he joined Horst Wendeâs trio and later secured a position at the NDR Dance Orchestra under Franz Thon. His breakthrough came with collaborations on Freddy Quinnâs recordings in the early 1960s. Geisler released his first solo single "Happy Guitar / Samba estrella" in 1958, followed by albums such as Mr Guitar (1962) and Guitar a la Carte, Volume 1 (1968). He worked with various singers including Evelyn Künneke, Greetje Kauffeld, and Hildegard Knef. Geisler continued to perform and record into the 2000s, founding his own jazz band and studio. He received the Louis-Armstrong Memorial Prize in 2003. Ladi Geisler passed away on November 19, 2011, in Hamburg.
