Shamek Farrah, born Anthony Domacase in New York City, was an American alto saxophone player who began studying his instrument under Garvin Bushel at age 12. In the late 1960s, he started performing with up-and-coming Latin and Latin-jazz groups around New York. By the mid-1970s, Farrah had become a prominent figure in the live loft jazz scene, collaborating with notable musicians such as Sonelius Smith, Rashid Ali, John Stubblefield, Carlos Garnett, and Walter Davis Jr. In 1974, he released his debut album First Impressions under Strata-East Records. His second album, The World of the Children, was released in collaboration with Sonelius Smith in 1977. Farrah signed with RA Records in 1979 and released La Dee La La in 1980. His compositions, such as "First Impressions", have been re-released multiple times and featured on various compilations, including Soul Jazz Loves Strata-East (first issued in 1992) and Fusion With Attitude (2006).
