Biography

ScoLoHoFo, a jazz supergroup formed in 2002, consisted of electric guitarist John Scofield, tenor saxophonist Joe Lovano, bassist Dave Holland, and drummer Al Foster. The group's debut album, Oh!, was recorded in 2002 and released by Blue Note Records on January 28th, 2003. This studio album featured original compositions from all four members and received critical acclaim for its post-bop sound with an acoustic, folky underpinning. Notable tracks include "Oh!," "Right About Now," and "The Winding Way." The album was praised for its cohesive sound and the musicians' ability to anticipate each other's moves, creating a sense of intimacy and coherence. ScoLoHoFo's Oh! stands as a significant contribution to contemporary jazz, showcasing the talents of these seasoned musicians who had previously collaborated with Miles Davis and other prominent figures in the genre.
