Biography

Sandro Giacobbe, born on December 14, 1949 in Genoa, Italy, is an Italian singer-songwriter. He began his musical career in the early 1970s and achieved success with "Signora mia" in 1974, which reached Number 10 on the Italian singles chart. Throughout the decade, Sandro Giacobbe released several albums including Il giardino proibito (1975) and Metto all'asta... (1976), the latter of which featured "Gli occhi di tua madre", a song that placed third at the 1976 Festival of San Remo. His Spanish-language version of "Il giardino prohibito" titled "El jardín prohibido" topped the charts in Spain the same year. Giacobbe continued to release albums through the 1980s and 1990s, with notable works including Le mie piu' belle canzoni (1990) and Il Meglio (1998). His last major hit was "Sarà la nostalgia" in 1982. Since the mid-1980s, Giacobbe has focused on live performances and charitable initiatives. On December 5, 2025, Sandro Giacobbe died of prostate cancer at the age of 75. The disease had left him requiring use of a wheelchair.
