Samantha Sang is an Australian singer best known for her 1978 international hit "Emotion," written by the Bee Gees, which reached the Top 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was a major success in Australia and the UK. Born Cheryl Lau Sang in Melbourne on August 5, 1951, she began performing as a child and gained national recognition in 1967 with the Top 10 Australian hit "You Made Me What I Am." In the late 1960s, she moved to the UK, where she collaborated with Barry Gibb, releasing "Love of a Woman," before returning to Australia in the mid-1970s. Her career reached new heights when she reconnected with the Bee Gees, leading to the release of "Emotion" and the album of the same name, which also included the singles "You Keep Me Dancing" and "In the Midnight Hour." Though she never replicated the massive success of "Emotion," Samantha Sang remained a respected figure in pop music, releasing From Dance to Love in 1979 and later stepping away from the industry.
