Biography

Samantha Martin & Delta Sugar is an eleven-piece band from Toronto, Canada, formed in 2014 by Samantha Martin. The group is known for blending blues, soul, gospel, and rock, drawing inspiration from Southern blues traditions. Their debut album Send the Nightingale was released in 2015, with songs influenced by Martin's mother's terminal illness. The album garnered four nominations at the 2015 Maple Blues Awards, including Best Female Vocalist and Best New Album/Producer. In 2018, they signed with Gypsy Soul Records and released Run to Me, which earned a Juno Award nomination for Blues Album of the Year and four Maple Blues Awards nominations. Their third album, The Reckless One, was released in November 2020 and received three nominations at the 2021 Maple Blues Awards.
