Biography

Isaac Scott III, born on June 11, 1945, in Vancouver, Washington, was an American blues guitarist and singer. Raised in Portland, Oregon, he was exposed to gospel music and blues from a young age. Self-taught on piano and guitar, Isaac Scott began his musical journey playing with gospel groups, including touring the West Coast with the Five Blind Boys of Mississippi in the early 1970s. After moving to Seattle in 1974, he focused on blues, influenced by Albert Collins. His debut album, The Isaac Scott Blues Band, was recorded live in 1979. Despite health issues including diabetes, which led to amputations, Isaac Scott continued performing in a wheelchair. He was inducted into the Washington Blues Society's Hall of Fame in 1991 and received their lifetime-achievement award in 2000. Isaac Scott died on November 16, 2001, in Edmonds, Washington, from complications of diabetes at the age of 56.
