Biography

Salvador Vilar Braamcamp Sobral (full name) was born on December 28, 1989 into a noble Portuguese family. Influenced by soul, bossa nova and singers like Leonard Cohen, he began singing as a child. After appearing on reality TV at the age of 20, he released the album Excuse Me in 2016, a testament to his musical eclecticism. Salvador Sobral represents Portugal at the Eurovision Song Contest, the final of which takes place in Kiev on May 13, 2017. Not only did he become the first Portuguese national to win with the song "Amar Pelos Dois", co-written with his sister Luisa Sobral, but he also became the record holder of points in the competition since its creation in 1964.
