Sacred Steel is a German heavy metal band from Ludwigsburg that was founded in 1996. The founding members are singer Gerrit P. Mutz, guitarists Oliver GroÃhans and Jörg M. Knittel, bassist Jens Sonnenberg and drummer Mathias Straub. The band currently consists of Gerrit P. Mutz (vocals), Jonas Khalil (guitar), Jörn Langenfeld (guitar, since 2023), Antonio Ieva (bass, since 2023) and Mathias Straub (drums). Sacred Steel plays a mixture of true metal, heavy metal, power metal and speed metal. The band is known for their energetic live performances and their loyalty to the traditional metal sound. In 1997, Sacred Steel released their debut album Reborn in Steel via Metal Blade Records, making them the first German band to be signed to this label. This was followed by the albums Wargods of Metal (1998), Bloodlust (2000), Slaughter Prophecy (2002) and Iron Blessings (2004). After personnel changes, the album Hammer of Destruction was released in 2006, followed by Carnage Victory (2009), The Bloodshed Summoning (2013) and Heavy Metal Sacrifice (2016). In April 2025, the tenth studio album Ritual Supremacy will be released via the ROAR label. The album marks the debut of new members Antonio Ieva and Jörn Langenfeld.
