Ryan Cohan, born on June 6, 1971, in Chicago, Illinois, is an American jazz pianist and composer. Introduced to music by his mother, who was a classical pianist and music teacher, Cohan began learning violin at nine before switching to piano. He pursued a Bachelor of Music in jazz performance at DePaul University. In the late 1990s, Ryan Cohan wrote and arranged songs for Ramsey Lewis' album Appassionata, which was named Jazz Album of the Year by Billboard Magazine in 2000. As a bandleader, Cohan released his debut solo album, Real World, in 1996, followed by Here and Now in 2001. In 2007, Cohan released One Sky, which features the four-part suite "One Sky: Tone Poems for Humanity".
