Ruti Olajugbagbe, born 20â¯Septemberâ¯1999 in Thurrock, is an English singer known professionally as Ruti who emerged on the public stage after winning the seventh series of The Voiceâ¯UK in 2018, where they joined Sir Tom Jonesâs team; their winnerâs single "Dreams", a cover of The Cranberries, entered the UK Singles Chart at numberâ¯14 and topped the iTunes Store. Following that success, they released their debut EP Racing Cars inâ¯Aprilâ¯2019 through Polydor, featuring the title track "Racing Cars", which they performed in the final of the eighth series of The Voice; the EP was issued digitally and later the artist announced their departure from Polydor. In Septemberâ¯2021 Ruti secured a publishing agreement with Sony Music Publishing, and by Novemberâ¯2021 they had signed a new record deal with PMR Records, part of Universal Music Group, under which they released subsequent EPs in 2021, 2023, and 2024, all available as digital downloads.
