Biography

Rupam Sarmah, born in Jorhat, Assam, is a musician, filmmaker, and producer. He learned Indian instruments and classical vocals during his time at Golaghat and Jorhat before migrating to the United States for higher education. His music career began with training under Hindustani classical maestro Ali Akbar Khan. Sarmah's breakthrough came with the release of In Search of God [B.O.F.] in 2012, followed by Omkara (The Sound of Divine Love) in 2014 and A Musical Journey: Together in Peace in 2017, which reached Number one on the Billboard World Music chart. He has collaborated with numerous award-winning artists such as Quincy Jones, Julian Lennon, and Kathy Sledge. Sarmah's work includes directing documentaries and feature films, notably One Little Finger, which won Gold Telly Awards in 2019. He founded the One Little Finger Global Foundation to support underprivileged children and persons with disabilities.
