Biography

John Burke, born in 1988 in Atlanta, Georgia, is an American pianist, composer, and songwriter. He studied Spanish and music at Oglethorpe University and later earned a master’s degree in public administration from Georgia State University. Burke was inspired by George Winston and Ray Manzarek. He released his debut solo piano album Synesthesia in 2011, which received positive attention. His subsequent albums include Reverie (2013) and Chirality (2014), with Chirality winning Jazz Album of the Year on SoloPiano.com. Burke’s 2016 album Orogen was nominated for Best New Age Album at the 59th Annual Grammy Awards. He has composed scores for film, video games, and theatre, including the original soundtrack for A Streetcar Named Desire.
