Biography

The Japanese indie-folk band Roth Bart Baron was formed in 2008 by singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Masaya Mifune. Based in Tokyo, Japan, and named after a character in Tchaikovsky's legendary ballet Swan Lake, Roth Bart Baron made its recorded debut with a self-titled EP, Roth Bart Baron, in 2010. After the release of a follow-up EP and several stand-alone singles, a full-length debut album named Roth Bart Baron's "The Ice Age" arrived in 2014. The record was co-produced by Mifune and featured percussion from Roth Bart Baron's second member, drummer Tetsuya Nakahara, who remained within the band's ranks for follow-up releases like 2015's Atom, 2018's Hex, and 2019's The Name of the Beasts. Tetsuya Nakahara then left the lineup in 2020, effectively turning Roth Bart Baron into Masaya Mifune's solo project. Several days after Nakahara's departure, Mifune announced the upcoming release of Colorful Festival, which appeared in October 2020. A number of singles followed in early 2021, along with a concert recording named The Name of the Beast Tour Final - Live at Meguro Persimmon Hall. Many of those singles later appeared on another studio effort, HAKU's Resurrection, which was released during the final weeks of 2021.
