Biography
Born Victoire Bergeron on January 28, 1933, and died on April 3, 2008, Rosita Salvador was a Quebec pop singer. She began her career in 1950 as a cabaret dancer, then became a singer by winning an amateur contest in 1959. That same year, she released her first single, " Expérience pas nécessaire ". Her first radio hit came in 1963 with the song " Donne-moi ma chance ", which reached the top 10 of the Quebec radio charts. Rosita Salvador scored two more hits the following year, with the songs " C'est ta faute " and " Le Bonheur ". She performed in numerous cabarets, then sang at Montreal's Place des Arts on February 1 and 2, 1964. She topped the charts in 1965 with " Mon Coeur est en prison ". She continued to launch songs until 1977, but was no longer as successful. In the 1980s, she devoted herself to painting. Her last public appearance was when 25 artists celebrated her 75th birthday at a show in Laval (Canada), on January 27, 2008. She died of lung and liver cancer on April 3, 2008 in Ste-Hyacinthe.
