He began releasing beats and raps online under the nickname "Big Cheez" around 2003, producing the 2005 album Straight Laced by Fish. In 2006, Jenkees started uploading music-related videos to YouTube, gaining popularity with his distinctive voice and playful persona. His breakthrough came when Bill Simmons from ESPN.com featured him and asked him to record his podcast theme. Jenkees independently released his first studio album, Ronald Jenkees, in 2007, followed by Disorganized Fun in 2009, which included a remix of "Beyond Right Now" for Sound Tribe Sector 9's album Peaceblaster: The New Orleans Make It Right Remixes.
