Biography
Ron Affif, born Ronaldo Antunacci Charles Affif on December 30, 1965 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is an American jazz guitarist of Lebanese and Italian origin. He began studying guitar at age twelve with his uncle, guitarist Ron Anthony, and is largely self-taught. After graduating from high school, he moved to Los Angeles in 1984, where he studied with Joe Pass and performed with musicians such as Dick Berk, Pete Christlieb, Dave Pike, and Jack Sheldon. He later relocated to New York City, where he led groups featuring musicians including Colin Bailey, Brian OâRourke, and others. In the 1990s, Affif formed a trio with Essiet Essiet and Jeff âTainâ Watts, continuing to build his reputation on the New York jazz scene while also collaborating with artists such as Michael Carvin, David Kikoski, Ralph Lalama, and Leon Parker.
