Biography

Romy Monteiro, born Romy Truggelaar on November 13, 1992, in Utrecht, Netherlands, is a Dutch singer, actress, and television presenter. She began her music career by participating in the fifth season of The Voice of Holland in 2014, where she advanced to the live shows under coach Trijntje Oosterhuis but was eliminated in the quarter-finals. Her breakthrough came with her debut as Rachel Marron in the Dutch musical The Bodyguard in September 2015, for which she won the Musical Award for Upcoming Talent in 2016. In February 2017, Monteiro released her debut album, "A Tribute to Whitney," featuring covers of songs by Whitney Houston, which reached Number 1 on the Dutch Album Top 100. She has also presented various television shows, including Mijn vader is de beste, Junior Songfestival, and De Hit Kwis, and co-presented DanceSing. Monteiro's notable singles include "I Will Always Love You," "Hurt," and "Crazy in Love."
