British rock group Roman Holliday, formed in November 1980, and consists of Brian Bonhomme on guitar and vocals, Steve Lambert as the lead singer, Simon Cohen on drums, Peter Noone who left shortly after formation. The band later included Rob Lambert, Jon Durno, John Eacott, Adrian York, and Tony Wallman. Roman Holliday gained initial recognition when they were spotted by John Peel at the Jive Dive swing club in London, leading to two recording sessions for his show. This exposure culminated in a signing with Jive Records. The band's breakthrough came with their second single "Don't Try to Stop It", which reached number 14 on the UK Singles Chart in summer 1983. Their follow-up single "Motormania" peaked at number 40, and their debut album Cookin' On The Roof was released later that year. Despite modest success, Roman Holliday toured extensively, opening for acts like Missing Persons, Culture Club, and Stray Cats. In 1984, the band achieved significant international exposure through MTV with the video for "Stand By", which topped the Canadian Adult Contemporary chart. The group also charted in Japan with tracks like "Hear It in the Night" and "One Foot Back in Your Door".
