Biography
Rolf Zuckowski was born in Hamburg on May 12, 1947. He is a German musician, composer, music producer and songwriter. He is one of the most influential figures in German-language children's and family music. He began his musical career as a teenager: in the 1960s, he played guitar and sang with the school band The BeAthovens. In 1977, his first children's sing-along was published. In 1981, the project Rolf Zuckowski and his friends was launched. In addition to Rolf Zuckowski, the group includes various singers and performers, including children and family members. The musical spectrum ranges between children's songs, family music and folk elements. With catchy melodies and affectionate lyrics, the band appeals to children and adults alike. Well-known and important albums were released over the decades: "Rolfs Vogelhochzeit" was followed by "Rolfs Schulweg-Hitparade" (1979), "Rolfs Radio Lollipop" (1981), "Lieder, die wie Brücken sind" (1982), "Winterkinder" (1987), "Die Jahresuhr" (1992) and "Dezemberträume" (1993). The album "Winterkinder" is considered a classic. It contains the songs "In der Weihnachtsbäckerei", "Es schneit" and "Auf der Suche nach Weihnachten", among others . This album is a great success for the band. It is one of the best-selling German-language Christmas albums. Rolf Zuckowski remains active into 2025: on November 19, 2025, he releases the album "Weihnachten und Winter mit Rolf Zuckowski". In addition, the digital album "Sehnsucht Nach Weihnachten - Die Lieder und Playbacks" with Rolf Zuckowski and his Swiss friends is released on October 31, 2025. Rolf Zuckowski has received numerous awards for his life's work and services: the state honored him with the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class (2018). He is also socially committed, for example as an ambassador for children's hospices and for musical education in kindergartens.
