Biography

Rod Piazza, born December 18, 1947, in Riverside, California, is an American blues harmonica player and singer. He began his musical journey on guitar at age six or seven before transitioning to the harmonica. In the mid-1960s, Piazza formed The House of DBS, later renamed the Dirty Blues Band, which released two albums with ABC-Bluesway in 1967 and 1968. After the band's dissolution in 1968, he formed Bacon Fat with his mentor George "Harmonica" Smith, featuring a dual harp sound. Piazza went solo in 1974 and formed the Chicago Flying Saucer Band the following year, which later evolved into The Mighty Flyers in 1980 with his wife Honey Piazza on piano. With The Mighty Flyers, Piazza released numerous albums, including Harpburn (1986) and Vintage Live 1975 (1998). He has recorded twenty-four studio albums and appeared as a guest performer on more than twenty-one releases. Piazza has toured extensively in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, and Spain.
