Biography

Rocío Quiroz (born on July 1, 1995, in San Miguel, Buenos Aires) is an Argentine cumbia singer whose career began taking shape after she won the TV contest “Pasión Canta 2012” on Pasión de sábado, a launchpad that quickly turned into a steady album run on MOJO. She introduced her barrio-centered storytelling on De mi barrio con pasión (2013), later expanding her live profile with projects like En vivo en Pasión (2015) and En vivo en el Teatro Colonial (2017), while balancing romantic cumbia with more personal narratives—including songs that reference poverty and gender violence, topics she has spoken about publicly. Her catalog grew with Vivir soñando (2015) and Sobreviviendo (2017), then reached a major industry peak with La voz de los barrios (2018), which reinforced her identity as a frontwoman for grassroots cumbia and brought her top recognition at the Premios Gardel (she also won in 2016 for De mi barrio con pasión). Along the way, collaborations helped widen her audience, notably “Quizás” with El Pepo and “Culpables” with Tu Combo Kabrón, and she maintained a visible TV presence with appearances that included Cantando 2020 (2020–2021) and guest-jury work on Canta conmigo ahora (2022). In the mid-2020s she stayed active with singles and high-energy live sessions, including ROCIO QUIROZ / Zapada EN VIVO en UN POCO DE RUIDO! (2025), keeping her voice-and-band dynamic in circulation into the present day.
