Robert Landfermann, born May 28, 1982, in Oberwinter, Germany, is a double bassist and composer known for his work in creative jazz. He started classical guitar lessons at age seven, later transitioning to electric bass and then double bass under Gunnar Plümer's guidance. He has collaborated with notable musicians including John Scofield and Lee Konitz. In 2006, he founded the trio Die Freundliche Ãbernehmen and joined Pablo Held's Trio. Notable releases include Zero (2009) and Night Will Fall (2015). He has received several awards, including the WDR Jazzpreis for Improvisation in 2009 and the SWR Jazzpreis with Pablo Held Trio in 2014. Landfermann has also taught at institutions such as the Folkwang Universität der Künste and the Musikhochschule Mannheim.
