Biography

Robert Bradley's Blackwater Surprise is an American band formed in 1994 in Detroit, Michigan. The band was born from the encounter between Robert Bradley, a blind street singer from Alabama, and three rock musicians: brothers Michael and Andrew Nehra (on guitar and bass respectively) and drummer Jeff Fowlkes, all three from Second Self. This unlikely collaboration gave birth to a unique fusion of soul, blues, rock and R&B, marked by Bradley's powerful, emotive voice, at work on five studio albums: the homonymous debut released on RCA in 1996, followed by Time to Discover (2000), New Ground (2002), Still Lovin' You (2003) and Out of the Wilderness (2008). The band split up the following year.
