Bobby Balderrama, born Robert Lee Balderrama on February 27, 1950, in OâDonnell, Texas, is an American guitarist, singer, and songwriter whose career spans more than six decades. He is best known as a founding member, lead guitarist, backing vocalist, and songwriter for the garage rock band Question Mark & the Mysterians, whose iconic hit "96 Tears" reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1966, helping lay the groundwork for 1960s punk and garage rock. After his time with the Mysterians, Balderrama explored multiple genres, performing with Joe âKingâ Carrasco, Liliana Rokita, and leading his own blues and smooth jazz projects such as the Robert Lee Blues Band and the Robert Lee Revue. In the following years, he has gained recognition in smooth jazz with the album The Great Hall of Smooth Jazz (2022) and the charting single âSunset Beachâ (2025). He has continued to perform live with Question Mark & the Mysterians.
