Biography

Robert Balderrama is an American guitarist and songwriter. He achieved professional recognition as a founding member and lead guitarist for the garage rock ensemble ? and the Mysterians, which formed in 1962. He performed on the track “96 Tears” (1966), which reached Number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. His recording career with the ensemble includes the studio recordings 96 Tears (1966) and Action (1967). Balderrama was inducted into the Michigan Rock and Roll Legends Hall of Fame in 2006 alongside other original members. After the ensemble became inactive in 1969, he participated in several reunions, including a concert in Dallas (1984) and a performance at the Brooklyn Detroit venue (2023). His discography includes the studio recording More Action (1999) and the compilation Feel It! The Very Best of ? & the Mysterians (2001).
