Biography

Ripping Corpse was a death metal band formed in 1987 in Red Bank, New Jersey by Scott Ruth on vocals, Shaune Kelley on guitar, and Brandon Thomas on drums. The band's lyrics were typically horror-themed, and they took their name from the second song on Kreator's album Pleasure to Kill. Their initial releases included the demos Death Warmed Over (1987) and Splattered Remains (1988). Erik Rutan and Scott Hornick later joined as guitarist and bassist, respectively. The band's only full-length studio album, Dreaming with the Dead, was released in 1991 under Kraze/Maze America. Rutan left to join Morbid Angel around 1993, and Hornick departed to attend Berklee College of Music later that year. Following these departures, the remaining members disbanded in 1995.
