Rick Bogart, born Charles Richard Hernández Hardeman on February 19, 1951 in New Orleans, Louisiana, was an American jazz musician and singer. He began playing piano at age 8 and clarinet at 11. In the mid-1970s, Bogart performed with notable bands in New Orleans, including stints with Snookum Russell and Wallace Davenport. In 1983, he began headlining at Harrah's Casino in Atlantic City until 1994. Bogart later taught English while continuing his music career locally. From 1999 to 2011, he headlined on cruise ships, performing in over 72 countries. His notable works include compositions for films like Earthly Possessions (1999) and Love in the Time of Money (2002) and solo albums such as Rick Bogart (2006) and New York Rhythm (2008). He was also featured in documentaries, including When the Clarinet Swings and Mr. Jazz: Louis Armstrong.
